Family Weekend - Part 1

Image
Last Saturday morning, Jason took the girls out to get bagels for all of us. After breakfast, we headed to a playground near the beach. It was crowded, but we had a great time. The girls played on the slides and playground fixtures for a bit while Jason let Tommy roam in the grass. Then we all practiced our American Ninja Warrior skills by playing follow the leader. We jumped on and off concrete tables, from rock to rock, and over the benches! We took turns leading the group and even recruited another child to play:) Tommy patiently waited, leashed to a nearby tree that Reagan climbed several times. Then we all wandered over to the grassy area to let Tommy run some more. It was a fun way to spend the morning and get out some energy! This is my new favorite picture of this cheese ball! This is impressive, A) because he jumped so high, and B) because he did it so fast, the camera didn't even capture the frame between him being behind the b

American Ninja Reagan!

Since moving to California, I've been searching for an activity outside of school for Reagan. She didn't want to play soccer or t-ball, and expressed a mild interest in gymnastics, but when I suggested American Ninja Warrior classes, she got super excited! Last week, we found the Tempest Freerunning Academy. They offer a Tadpole class for 6-8 year olds to learn the basics of freerunning. So on Wednesday afternoons, for as long as she's interested, we'll be trekking out to Vista for an hour-long lesson. The gym is perfect for kids and offers a range of obstacles and activities. Yesterday, she had her second class.  Savannah found a buddy to play with while Reagan was in class! They were playing a game where the instructor shouted out various commands and the kids followed. This one was cockroach:) Reagan's class is full of little boys. Luckily, the class that's a bit older has about 1/2 girls and they are GOOD! It provides her with

Stonesteps Surfing Competition - Encinitas, CA

Image
Last Saturday, our friends, Nick & Agatha, invited us to Encinitas to watch Nick compete in the Stonesteps Surf Competition. We stopped by 101 Bagels to grab some breakfast and made our way south before the weekend traffic took over. Jason quickly found a parking spot and we wandered down 126 steps to find our friends on the beach. The girls love hanging out with Nick & Agatha because they have 7 month old twins, Eva and West! They have so much fun playing with the babies! Breakfast on the beach:) We got there in plenty of time to see Nick in his first heat. He had some stiff competition, but did an amazing job and advanced to the second round! Jason also enjoyed some time with the babies! As seems to be the usual here in Cali, the girls quickly found other kids to play with. And of course, they were soaked little sandy crabs by the time we left:) We had a great time hanging out and meeting new people.
