Sunset Parade with Reagan

Image
A couple weeks ago, Jason had to escort Mrs. Thornberry and her guests to the Sunset Parade at the Marine Corps War Memorial. It just so happened that my friend, April, asked Reagan and I to attend the parade the same night. We met April in Cameron Station, grabbed a quick to-go dinner, and headed into Arlington. We had a nice easy drive to Arlington National Cemetery where we hopped on a bus and were driven to the MCWM. We chatted with April's husband (he's stationed at the Barracks) while waiting for the parade to begin, and he was kind enough to save us three chairs in the roped off area (April is due 2-3 weeks before me, so it was a welcome offer!).  Once the VIPs started arriving, we turned around and quickly found Daddy! Reagan was thrilled to see him, but couldn't figure out why he couldn't pick her up and carry her around:) After saying hello and chatting for a moment, we headed back to our seats and watched as the parade started. Reagan liked the music, bu...

Our Little Patient

Image
February 2013 will go down in history as "The Month of the Emergency Room!" Actually, that should be amended to read "The Week of the Emergency Room," as we managed to cram the bad stuff into just a few days! Let me explain: On Saturday, February 16th, after lots of puking and crying, Jason and I took Reagan to the ER thinking she had an infection. Luckily that's all it was, and after a very short wait, we were able to see the doctor, get her antibiotics, and head home. She was a great patient that day! Then, on Thursday, February 21st, we decided that one trip to the ER in a month just wasn't enough. At 5:30am, Jason and I awoke to a loud crash in our room. Apparently, Reagan was trying to climb into our bed (as she has done on so many occasions, but usually we wake up and help her) and fell. She hit the wood floor HARD. She kept mentioning that "this side" hurts, pointing to her left shoulder. We had her move it a bit and that seemed...

OOPS!

Image
In the first years of the lives of our children, we wait for the first word, the first step, and a multitude of other "firsts." I'm sure this "first" happens to every toddler, but it's not one of those you look forward to. I'm referring to their first big fall. Yesterday morning, after our run with some Stroller Warriors, Reagan hopped out of the stroller and was heading for the playground when she took a tumble. Unfortunately, she landed on her hands, and unable to protect herself, her chin took the brunt of the fall:( She was a champ and didn't cry too much, but it sure looked painful. Oh well, I'm sure this is the first of many accidents! So here's to another first!

Reagan's First Haircut

Image
Well, we're at it again...traveling that is.  After Reagan's doctors's appointment on the 20th, we loaded up the car (we're becoming pros!) and drove to Woodbridge, VA to see Grandma, Grandpa, and Uncle Geoffrey.  We had a couple days to relax, and on Friday, we went to see Bonnie (who did my and my bridesmaids' hair for the wedding).  Reagan was definitely in need of a trim: As you can tell, she couldn't exactly see through those bangs!  I placed her in my lap, Grandma handed her a rice cracker, and Bonnie started to work.  She used a spray bottle to wet her hair, and then started cutting.  With a minimal amount of tears, the haircut was finished quickly and she's cute as a button (even if her father thinks she looks like a boy now:).   With Miss Bonnie after the cut.  She still wasn't too sure what was going on! I think her haircut looked like Haley Mills in her Parent Trap days.  Super cute and best of all, now she can see!  Bo...

Waffle Time

Image
On Thursday morning, the day we were leaving, Grandpa went all out for breakfast and served homemade waffles!  I left him in charge while I went to take a shower, and this is what I came back to: Yummy!  My first waffle! Here's Tommy, you try some too! But Grandpa, I'm sure I can fit the whole thing in my mouth! Glad I got to capture these moments.  It was a terrific visit as always and we can't wait to see everyone again in May for Reagan' baptism!

First Snow!

Image
On Monday, January 10th, Reagan saw her first real snowfall!  We live in Eastern NC (which typically doesn't see a lot of snow), so we don't exactly own a snowsuit.  However, her Halloween monkey costume is multi-purpose.  Bundled up in her Virginia sweats, her monkey costume, scarf and mittens, Reagan and I trekked outside with Tommy to take some quick pictures.  If we had a hill we would have tried to sled (although I have no idea what I would have used for a sled), but we settled for making an angel in the white stuff:)  I'm not sure exactly how she felt about the experience, but she didn't cry, so I'm calling it a win!
