A Welcome Visit!


On Saturday afternoon, Jessica & Sean came to visit!  They drove down from Williamsburg, VA and arrived in Jacksonville around noon.  After a quick tour of the house & garden, we went to Sonic for lunch and then they had a couples massage at Medical Massage & Wellness.  After that, we went to Southwest Berry Farm to pick strawberries (Sean has those pictures on his camera).  On Sunday morning, we woke up early to head to downtown Wilmington to run the Bellamy Mansion Mueseum 5k.  Sean & Jess were kind enough to run with me thoughout the race and we chatted & had a great time. 


Here we are after the run was over!  It was already in the high 70s or low 80s by this point in the day! 


On Sunday afternoon, we went to the Onslow Pines Park and they taught me about geo-caching (sp?).  We found 2 out of the 3 items we were looking for, but it was 90 degrees and way too hot to be hunting around the woods for stuff.  And Tommy was definitely ready to go after just 30 minutes outside.  That evening, Jessica burned the last of the pile of small sticks & Sean grilled hotdogs and veggie burgers for our dinner.  I spent the majority of their visit losing in every card game we played :-(  Unfortunately, it was a short trip, and they left this morning.  Thanks for coming guys!  I had a wonderful time.

    Glad they had a nice visit. Can't believe you are still running.. you amaze me! I'll stick to waddling in the evenings. ;-)

NC Girls' Weekend

Since Jason is out of town, we decided to schedule an impromptu girls weekend visit in North Carolina. It was great to see Lynsey & Colleen and their families. Jessica, the girls and I drove down Friday night and got to Lynsey's just before midnight. We didn't do much, but hang around the house and play outside on the first day. It was relaxing and fun. Brian was awesome and played with the kids while Jess, Lynsey & I did a workout in their amazing home gym. Colleen came up with the boys around lunch time on Saturday. All the kids fawned over Miles, or as they have names him, Baby My My. I think Savannah really enjoyed not being the youngest for a few days. Saturday night, we ordered pizza, ate way too much, and Grammy Betty came over. We haven't seen her in a long time and it was wonderful to chat with her again.  The next day, we woke up to some snow! Bath Time Fun

Typically, after Jason gets home and eats dinner, he is on bath duty. It gives me 10 minutes to clean the kitchen, set up his coffee and make his lunch for the following day. One day last week though, everything was already done, so I snuck in to watch the fun. We recently got some Mr. Bubbles for Reagan and she LOVED them. She's such a cheeseball!

Bath Time: PAHM Style

I've mentioned it before, but I will say it again: I love Play At Home Mom !!! This site is the best for ideas to interact with, engage, and teach your children. Reagan takes a bath almost every night. She has the typical assortment of toys (rubber boats, cups, a turtle, etc) to entertain her, but lately, she just leaves them in the bag. I decided to introduce some new things during bath time and they were a huge hit! Here are some pictures from our "adventures in bath fun." First up: BUBBLES ! It's a bit too cold to just hang out in the yard blowing bubbles, so I decided that bath time would be the perfect opportunity for a mess free bubble party! I LOVE this shot.  Secondly, (and straight from PAHM), I added: WATER BALLOONS !!! She absolutely loved when I poked a small hole in them and they became "water fountains!"
