Trip to Shenandoah for Leaf Peeping

According to the experts, we missed the peak leaf peeping by a couple days, but from the views we saw, you wouldn't know it. During our recent trip to VA, I convinced Grandma and Grandpa to drive out to Shenandoah with Reagan and look at the beautiful scenery. It was a short drive to the mountains and it was especially great because I wasn't behind the wheel for once. We turned on to Skyline drive just after noon and were treated to delightful views:



We convinced Grandpa to stop at nearly EVERY overlook we passed! Then we drove up to the milepost where Jason and I used to camp and we all made the 1/4 mile walk downhill to the Gravel Springs Hut.



I've camped in this hut several times and it brought back so many great memories. Reagan enjoyed playing by the firepit and in a large pile of leaves too:) The walk back to the car wasn't quite as easy. Reagan used the old, "I'm just a baby, you can't expect me to walk all the way up there" excuse so I got to carry all 25 pounds of her for most of the hike!

After our leaf peeping, we treated ourselves to some delicious pizza at Anthony's Pizza X.

NC Girls' Weekend

Since Jason is out of town, we decided to schedule an impromptu girls weekend visit in North Carolina. It was great to see Lynsey & Colleen and their families. Jessica, the girls and I drove down Friday night and got to Lynsey's just before midnight. We didn't do much, but hang around the house and play outside on the first day. It was relaxing and fun. Brian was awesome and played with the kids while Jess, Lynsey & I did a workout in their amazing home gym. Colleen came up with the boys around lunch time on Saturday. All the kids fawned over Miles, or as they have names him, Baby My My. I think Savannah really enjoyed not being the youngest for a few days. Saturday night, we ordered pizza, ate way too much, and Grammy Betty came over. We haven't seen her in a long time and it was wonderful to chat with her again.  The next day, we woke up to some snow! Bath Time Fun

Typically, after Jason gets home and eats dinner, he is on bath duty. It gives me 10 minutes to clean the kitchen, set up his coffee and make his lunch for the following day. One day last week though, everything was already done, so I snuck in to watch the fun. We recently got some Mr. Bubbles for Reagan and she LOVED them. She's such a cheeseball!

Bath Time: PAHM Style

I've mentioned it before, but I will say it again: I love Play At Home Mom !!! This site is the best for ideas to interact with, engage, and teach your children. Reagan takes a bath almost every night. She has the typical assortment of toys (rubber boats, cups, a turtle, etc) to entertain her, but lately, she just leaves them in the bag. I decided to introduce some new things during bath time and they were a huge hit! Here are some pictures from our "adventures in bath fun." First up: BUBBLES ! It's a bit too cold to just hang out in the yard blowing bubbles, so I decided that bath time would be the perfect opportunity for a mess free bubble party! I LOVE this shot.  Secondly, (and straight from PAHM), I added: WATER BALLOONS !!! She absolutely loved when I poked a small hole in them and they became "water fountains!"
