Best "Low Key" Weekend Ever!
On Saturday morning, Jason got up early and went to work for a couple hours. When he returned home, we piled into the car with Tommy and Reagan and took off for North Top Sail Beach. The weather was absolutely gorgeous and Tommy enjoyed free reign of the beach as there are no "leash laws" after Memorial Day.
After our short outing to the beach, we returned home and did some things around the house. Namely, Jason chopped up a chicken using his new meat cleaver and worked diligently at making chicken stock, and I began preparations for MIL/FIL/BIL's arrival on Thursday (i.e. washing sheets, dusting, etc.). All in all, we were quite productive. As the afternoon approached, we sat outside and enjoyed the unusually warm November day. Reagan even joined us for a bit:
Jason was our photographer!
Reagan loves facing out in her Baby Bjorn carrier.
Our neighbors were outside and we chatted with them for a bit. (Side note: a few houses have sold recently, and one of our new neighbors is named Champagne. Yes, really.) After letting Tommy play with the dogs next door, we went back to the house and began planning our dinner. Jason grilled lamb chops with a honey-ancho chili glaze, zucchini spears, and garlicky tomatoes! It was a fantastic meal.

We happened upon a new (and wonderful) discovery Saturday evening during dinner. Our fireplace is mesmerizing...at least in Reagan's opinion! She stared at it throughout the meal and cooed to herself in amazement. (So now you know where Little Miss will be for the next few meals - until she becomes mobile that is.) After dinner, Reagan went to sleep, and Jason and I sat up playing Monopoly and The Price Is Right on the Wii.
Absolutely loving the fire!
Sunday was a relaxing day. We took a walk, went shopping in Wilmington where we strolled around a REAL grocery store, and just relaxed. Jason made ribs on the grill and I steamed some broccoli and baked a couple french fries. Nothing fancy, but certainly delicious. I couldn't have asked for a better family weekend.
Oh, and the Redskins finally won!
I like the sound of this weekend. It sounds like a perfect one in my book. A neighbor named Champagne?!?! Gotta love eastern NC!
ReplyDeleteI loved all the pictures and naturally the food looks five-star worthy! I'm glad you had such a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteSounds wonderful. I love the picture of Reagan in the grass! I must say, that Reagan's fascination with fire concerns me a bit...but only because I remember a certain set of twins that liked to set random things on fire in their early childhood!
