One Rainy Sunday
Last Sunday, Reagan and I woke up early and went for a nice jog in the overcast weather. Minutes after we got home, the skies opened up and dumped buckets of water! Jason wandered into the bonus room where we were sitting and thus our day had officially begun.
We spent the morning looking at cooking magazines and flipping through the cookbook that MIL made for Jason. We selected a few recipes, jotted down a shopping list, and headed south to the good grocery store (aka Harris Teeter). You can see from the picture below that it was obviously a family (i.e. Daddy tagged along) trip:

The top 5 packages of meat are all SAUSAGE...Jason's favorite!
Reagan went down for a nap as soon as we got home, so Jason and I donned our chef attire and got to work. He started by making us a nice platter of various cheeses, hot Italian sausage, and a chorizo/egg concoction! I started by making Uncle Kevin's chicken log...one of my favorite things!
Then I settled in with a magazine while Jason did the hard work...chopping onions and garlic to make Grandma Goodale's sauce! The onions may have made Jason cry a little bit:) Once the chopping was finished, he sauteed everything, added the spices and tomatoes, and then it was a waiting and stirring game. While we waited, Jason combined the ground beef and sausage, and seasoned the mixture for meatballs. I got the fun job of mixing the meat and rolling the meatballs! Jason isn't a huge fan of meatballs, so he cooked up some Italian sausages to go with our meal for the evening. Once everything was cooked, he added them to the sauce to give it a robust flavor.
By this time, Reagan was up and ready to help...or at least show us how she can climb under her high chair:)
And needless to say, we were all happy to sit down to this delicious meal! What a fabulous way to spend a dreary Sunday. In fact, we've decided that once a month, we'll be spending an afternoon making loads of pasta sauce and planning recipes to use it. YUMMY!
I think Reagan was trying to give Tommy a taste:)
Someone LOVED her dinner!
And so what if the lawn hasn't been mowed in over a week?! I'm blaming all the rain:)
