Old Town Alexandria

One afternoon last week, Jason called me and said, "Hey, I know you had plans for dinner, but can you just shift it to tomorrow night?" Of course I jumped at the opportunity to skip a night of cooking, so naturally I said yes:) He arrived home early from work and we got dressed for an afternoon/evening in Old Town Alexandria. On our drive down the GW Parkway, I asked Jason to stop briefly so I could grab a shot of yet another amazing sunset (seriously great views here!). Shortly after we arrived in Old Town and found some parking. We wandered around and Jason took us to our first destination: 

Reagan was sporting a coat that is borrowed from an old family friend...ridiculously cute!


At Society Fair, we enjoyed a glass of wine and two different appetizers - both of which were delicious. Reagan looked so prim and proper with her fancy coat on.

After our snack, we walked a block to the city square where we saw the gorgeous lights and Christmas Tree!







Reagan had so much fun running around the dried up fountain, jumping off of a high wall into Daddy's arms, and stomping through puddles. I think she could have stayed there all night! Alas, we had to eat dinner, so Jason had yet another plan up his sleeve and took us to BGR - a place I've been dying to go. We had a great meal of burgers, fries and a strawberry shake. It was such a wonderful time spent with each other - something I'm especially grateful for since this time last year we were still waiting on him to get home!

NC Girls' Weekend

Since Jason is out of town, we decided to schedule an impromptu girls weekend visit in North Carolina. It was great to see Lynsey & Colleen and their families. Jessica, the girls and I drove down Friday night and got to Lynsey's just before midnight. We didn't do much, but hang around the house and play outside on the first day. It was relaxing and fun. Brian was awesome and played with the kids while Jess, Lynsey & I did a workout in their amazing home gym. Colleen came up with the boys around lunch time on Saturday. All the kids fawned over Miles, or as they have names him, Baby My My. I think Savannah really enjoyed not being the youngest for a few days. Saturday night, we ordered pizza, ate way too much, and Grammy Betty came over. We haven't seen her in a long time and it was wonderful to chat with her again.  The next day, we woke up to some snow! Bath Time Fun

Typically, after Jason gets home and eats dinner, he is on bath duty. It gives me 10 minutes to clean the kitchen, set up his coffee and make his lunch for the following day. One day last week though, everything was already done, so I snuck in to watch the fun. We recently got some Mr. Bubbles for Reagan and she LOVED them. She's such a cheeseball!

Bath Time: PAHM Style

I've mentioned it before, but I will say it again: I love Play At Home Mom !!! This site is the best for ideas to interact with, engage, and teach your children. Reagan takes a bath almost every night. She has the typical assortment of toys (rubber boats, cups, a turtle, etc) to entertain her, but lately, she just leaves them in the bag. I decided to introduce some new things during bath time and they were a huge hit! Here are some pictures from our "adventures in bath fun." First up: BUBBLES ! It's a bit too cold to just hang out in the yard blowing bubbles, so I decided that bath time would be the perfect opportunity for a mess free bubble party! I LOVE this shot.  Secondly, (and straight from PAHM), I added: WATER BALLOONS !!! She absolutely loved when I poked a small hole in them and they became "water fountains!"
