Thanksgiving 2012 - Part 2

As we enjoyed cocktails and appetizers, we had a great time chatting with one another. People were in and out of the kitchen, but because we cooked both birds outside, it was (for once) not the congregating place!

Jason with PeePaw, and I think I surprised MeeMaw!

Getting ready for its oil bath!

And in he goes!

Papa and PeePaw were hanging out on the porch, tending to this guy:

Any bigger and it wouldn't have fit in our grill!

Taking advantage of the gorgeous weather to hang out around the fryer. Reagan didn't even need shoes!

Reagan and Daddy

Reagan and Uncle Geoffrey sneak a peek at the turkey!

Isn't it beautiful!

Relish plate with some celery & cream cheese sticks (YUM!)

Getting ready to sauté the Brussels sprouts

Another good looking turkey is done!

A table for 12

We started with the butternut squash soup topped with fried leeks and a dollop of sour cream

And here's a picture of most of the main course: 2 different kinds of turkey, green bean casserole, potato dressing, stuffing, Brussels sprouts with bacon, mashed potatoes and bread stuffing!

And on the table of course...jellied cranberry sauce! It wouldn't be Thanksgiving without it!

After dinner, we cleaned up the plates and relaxed for a bit, watching football, nodding off...

Then Grandma got busy in the kitchen with her little helper:

Because we can't do anything on a small scale in this awesome family, we had our choice of THREE different desserts! (All served with fresh whipped cream!)

Pumpkin roll

Pumpkin pie

And raspberry crumble (my favorite!)

All in all, I'd say it was a darn good Thanksgiving! So happy to be surrounded by family (and it doesn't hurt to be surrounded by great food too:). Thanks to everyone who came and helped make it a special day!
