Landscaping...and other gardening news

On Sunday, May 1st, we took a lovely trip to Lowe's to find a couple more things to plant.  Jason has done an incredible job of landscaping our yard and we had guys come on Saturday to mow/trim.  It looks so different from when we moved in!  Unfortunately, the yard is too big to get a single shot of, so here are a few pictures of our projects:

This is Reagan's tree that we planted when Jason returned from the MEU deployment.  It's really growing!

In honor of Mom/Mil/Grandma, Jason planted two gardenia bushes in the backyard.

Due to a mild frost, I lost my original pepper plants.  This is a jalapeno plant!

And here's a standard bell pepper plant, although the picture on the tag says it will produce red & green peppers

Showing off our handsome puppy!

One of two rows (the other side of the yard has the other row) of olive tea bushes that smell lemony and delightful - Cody and Jason worked hard to plant all these in March

Our new Redbud tree (that looked totally different when Jason and Cody planted it a month ago).  It's grown about 6-9 inches in just a short time!

So now we have 11 small bushes and 2 new trees in the backyard.  The front has the original bushes from our move-in (some which we'd like to remove and replace with something different) and our Yoshino Cherry tree.  Once we build onto the existing deck, we'll have the backyard of our dreams.  And the garden is in full swing.  Jason and I enjoyed a salad made from lettuce & radishes straight out of the yard and a few other veggies from the store.
